20 years of the Morrie Gold B’nai B’rith Jewish Youth Art Competition

On Sunday the annual Jewish Youth Art competition, running for two decades, was formally opened by Mr. Tony Levy OAM, Lady Anna Cowen and Rachel Meltzer at the Glen Eira complex 6th August. We entered work from Year 6 to Year 12 and our students’ works looked strong on the walls. This competition includes all Jewish schools and this year exhibited a record 250 artworks.  At the opening, to our great excitement Natan Kessler won the coveted $1000 Bencjan Rozencwajg Memorial Scholarship prize, a big affirmation for a young artist, an enormous bursary prize for a student. And this for a second time round as Natan won the same prize in 2013 when he was in Year 10. Are we, at Yavneh, surprised? No no no! Natan’s amazing paintings have adorned our walls for some time for which our hallowed halls look so much the better. A true prince of painting! In a run of more wins, Jarod Arzoulay walked out with a special prize for a Jewish themed artwork. See the list RHS, for other Yavneh winners.

Other Yavneh entries hung in the Caulfied gallery looked superb and were admired!  Congratulations for your work and wonderful efforts:
